The M.Sc. was completed in Poultry Nutrition in the Department of Animal Science of the University of Manitoba in 1974. Ph.D. studies in Poultry Nutrition were completed at Cornell University in 1977. Dr. Smith has been a faculty member at the University of Guelph for 38 years and currently holds the position of Professor in the Department of Animal and Poultry Science.
His research interests are in the fields of Monogastric Nutrition and Feed and Food Toxicology with projects on the etiology and prevention of mycotoxicoses in poultry and livestock and the analysis of feed-borne mycotoxins.
