OFFICIAL LANGUAGE/S

The eleven official languages of South Africa are as follows:Afrikaans, English, Ndebele, Northern Sotho, Sotho, Swati, Tsonga, Tswana, Venda, Xhosa, Zulu.

Most people speak English well and English is the main business language.

77% of the population are black, 10% are white, 8% are mixed race, 2.5% are of Indian or Asian descent

CURRENCY

South African Rand (ZAR) and foreign currencies are not accepted.

CAPITAL CITY

Cape Town is the legislative capital, where Parliament sits. Pretoria is the executive capital, where the government administration is housed.

USA. UK & EU Visitors do not require a Visa to visit South Africa. Please check with local South African Consulate or visit Dept. of Home Affairs.

14% Value Added Tax is included in all costs. Visitors can claim back this Tax at central points in major centres and International Airports.

HEALTH INFORMATION

Malaria is endemic in the Lowveld of Mpumalanga and in Limpopo, Kwa-Zulu Natal, also on the Maputaland coast. If visiting these areas, please consult your doctor before arrival.
